The Fluent Engineer ("we") teaches professional English to engineers, students, and researchers. This page explains what data the site collects, why, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect only what's needed to run your account, deliver lessons, and answer your messages — and we never sell your data.
What we collect
Account details — when you join the Learn platform: your name, email address, password (stored hashed on our server), and optionally your WhatsApp number. When you book a session: your name, email, and any details you include in the request.
Google sign-in (optional) — if you choose “Continue with Google”, Google confirms your identity and shares your name and email address so we can create or open your account. We never receive or store your Google password.
Learning progress — saved words, completed lessons, practice scores, and reminder preferences. Stored in your browser (localStorage) and, if you have an account, synced to our database so your progress follows you across devices.
Usage analytics — we use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages and lessons are used, via cookies. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally. You can block analytics cookies with your browser settings or an ad blocker and the site works fully.
What we use it for
- Running your account and saving your learning progress.
- Replying to session requests and messages you send us.
- Sending free lessons, tips, and offers by email — only if you tick the box asking for them. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out any time.
- Daily study reminders by email — only if you turn them on, and you can turn them off in the Learn platform.
- Improving the site and lessons based on aggregate usage.
What we never do
- We never sell or rent your personal data.
- We never share it with third parties, except the services that run the site: our hosting provider (Hostinger), Google Analytics, and Google Fonts.
- We never post anything to your WhatsApp or social accounts.
Where your data lives
Account data and progress are stored in our database on Hostinger servers. Progress is also cached in your own browser's localStorage — clearing your browser data removes the local copy. Voice recordings in Speaking practice stay in your browser only and are never uploaded.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to see, correct, or permanently delete the data linked to your email address. Email thefluentengineer@gmail.com or message us on WhatsApp and we'll do it within 7 days.
Terms of use
Lessons and materials on this site are for your personal learning. Please don't republish or resell them. Free accounts are provided as-is; we may update or remove features as the platform evolves. Booking a session forms an agreement for that session only — payment terms are confirmed when you book.
